Dr. Merritt is dedicated to getting injured
athletes back to the activities they love. He is primarily
focused on the surgical treatment of knee injuries
from childhood to adulthood, as well as joint replacement surgery of the knee
and hip. Dr. Merritt has specialized training in knee ligament reconstruction,
cartilage injuries, meniscus repair, and minimally invasive partial knee replacement. If you have suffered an
injury or arthritis of the knee or hip,
please contact him for an appointment, and we will work together to
restore your active lifestyle.
After graduating from the University of Southern California
School of Medicine, Dr. Merritt completed his residency in orthopedic surgery
at the University of Washington in Seattle. He then finished his advanced
training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the Hospital for Special
Surgery in New York. During this time, Dr. Merritt served as an assistant team
physician for the New York Giants professional football team. Dr. Merritt
brings advanced training to POA, using the same surgical techniques and
individualized care that helps professional athletes get back in the game.
Andrew Huntley, PA-C, joined
POA in 2015 as a physician assistant for Dr.
Merritt, specializing in sports medicine and joint
replacement. Having a skilled Physician Assistant allows our patients with
more access to high-quality, prompt care for both acute and chronic conditions.
He assists Dr. Merritt in surgery, provides evaluation and treatment of new
patients, established patient care, pre, and post-operative appointments,
injections and orders diagnostic imaging including x-rays and MRIs.
Dr. Merritt lives in Seattle with his wife
and two children. When he is able to wrestle some free time he enjoys
golfing, mountain biking, mountain climbing, and being outdoors. He
provides physician team coverage for the Seattle Thunderbirds, Tahoma High
School, and is a consultant for many local athletic trainers and sports teams.
